A Long Awaited 3G Is
Making Its Ways In Pakistan..
Pakistani Government has officially announced that it will launch 3G networks in April. The Government has been successful in providing testing services in some parts of the country so its finally expected that this time Government will not delay its auctions and the whole launch process once again just like the previous government has done for around two or three times. Looking at the statistics of mobile phone users here in Pakistan we get to know that there are about 132 million mobile phones in use in Pakistan, a country of 180 million people, according to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. The world is enjoying 3G since long and even 4G has been launched in some parts of the word but unfortunately we are still struggling for 3G but any ways no more worries as Government is finally showing a keen interest in 3G launch here in Pakistan. Now looking briefly at what 3G actually offers is we see that 3G is actually a high speed internet offered by our mobile network. We will be able to make video calls watch live TV and enables data intensive services. Unlike Wi-Fi it does not restrict us to be in certain particular area to use internet but we can use anywhere just like our cellular network has its coverage. But not to forget that 3G services will not be as much cheaper as the current text message bundles. But according to an expert “we can hint you that 1Mbps wireless broadband with around 20 GBs data limit will cost you around Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 2,000 per month.” And it is estimated that a video call made with the help of 3G will cost around Rs.5 per mint so its obvious that for most of us the 3G will be a secondary choice and the Wi-Fi would still remain as primary. However 3G is just getting launched for now and no doubt it will gradually make its ways in masses as well.
